Born in Okinawa-ken, Misato-son (present day Okinawa-shi). According to the 1930 Census, she immigrated ~1907 to the Territory of Hawaiʻi. However, her 1918 ship's manifest indicates that she had never been to Hawaiʻi (column 17). If so, this would contradict birth records for three daughters (Fumiko, Kameyo, and Shizue) who were listed as being born on Kauaʻi before 1918.
Of note, the manifest lists Oto's father (in-law) Ryōbun Odo at the same address as in a 1928 Ships manifest for the same three daughters (Okinawa-ken, Misato-son, Awase #168), but erroneously lists her husband's name as "Ryōsuke" rather than "Ryōsei." Ryōsuke is the name of Ryōsei and Oto's first child born after 1918 [Everett Ryōsuke Odo (1919–1981)].
