She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church No. 2, where she was the oldest member.
Visitation is Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville. Funeral service is Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church No.2. The body will lie in state from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial in adjoining cemetery.
She is survived by, children, Jimmy (Brenda) Elliott, Jennie (Richard) Gurley, George (Patti) Elliott, Melinda Newell and Dr. David (Julie) Elliott; sister, Annette Jones; brother, Bobby Hicks; grandchildren, Charles (Malissa) Elliott, Christy (Jade) Bice, Robert (Stacy) Elliott, Rich (Sima) Gurley, Luke (Julia) Gurley, Levi (Emily) Elliott, Samuel (Alyssa) Elliott, Brandon (Alia) Newell, Bryant (Ashden) Newell, Cody (Kayla) Elliott and Bailey (Chris) Moomaw; 19 great grandchildren and 2 on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles M. and Annie Hicks; husband, George Alvie Elliott, sister, Florene Godsey, brother, Carlos Hicks.
