WILBERT "PRESTON" MCCOLLUM
MOUNT VERNON - Wilbert "Preston" McCollum, age 92, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away on July 30, 2017, at Colonial Manor in Loudonville, OH.
He was born on June 19, 1925, in Lewisville, OH and was the son of the late James and Ethel (Green) McCollum.
Preston was a World War II Army Medic Veteran and a member of the Eastside Church of Christ.
He is survived by his three daughters, Teresa (Bob) Brown of Danville, OH, Connie Durbin of Loudonville, OH and Robia (Brad) Kaylor of Danville, OH; a sister, Bonnie Mechling of Mount Vernon, OH and a brother, Joe (Janet) McCollum of Newark, OH; seven grandchildren, Carrie, Christopher, Shaina, Jereme, Danielle, Brandon and Brittany; five great grandchildren with another expected in September; brother-in-law, Larry Snively and a sister-in-law, Vivian McMillan; along with several nieces and nephews.
Preston was preceded in death by his wife, Iris McCollum in 2012; brothers, Dean (FAG #180812149) and Stanley Leon (FAG #115075129); sisters, June, Ruth (FAG #151454024) and Marjorie and a son-in-law, Ronald Durbin, Jr (FAG #32128108).
Burial with military graveside honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, Mount Vernon, OH.
