She was born December 12, 1930 in Elyria and was a 1948 graduate of Elyria High School and for many years was employed in the personnel department at TWA. After raising her family she resumed her career as personnel director at The Glidden Company. Katherine was an excellent cook of Greek cuisine in addition to Greek culture and dance. She was a lover of animals and enjoyed music, art, crafts, travel and creating floral arrangements. She had a love of fashion and an eclectic taste. Katherine was an accomplished pianist and a member of West Shore Chorale for many years. She was also an excellent bridge player and held a Life Master standing.
Katherine is survived by daughters, Rebecca Pournaras of Rocky River, OH and Bobbie Nehez and son-in-law, Mark Nehez of Westerville, OH; grandchildren, Richard (Elizabeth), Steven (Dalia), Daniel (Sagita) Najjar and Anthony and Athena Nehez; great grandchildren, Sophia, Vera, Aria and Ava and a sister, Helen Anezis of Peabody, MA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Vasiliki Karas.
A private service for immediate family will be Thursday October 5, 2017 at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
