William Williams Jr. was born in 1846 in England, North Wales. He came to America at age 26 and settled first on a farm in Wisconsin. 1st he Married Mary Jones in Mankato, Minnesota, together they had two children, one died as an infant. 2nd He married Mary Ann (Savage), born in Rhode Island. To this marriage 5 children were born, three survived.

WILLIAM WILLIAMS
Death claimed William J. Williams, one of Clay county's early pioneers and a respected farmer at his home in Lincoln township on Thursday, August 7, 1924. Apoplexy was the cause. Mr. Williams, while in a feeble state of health due to his advanced age was up and about as usual in the morning and had gone on an errand. When he returned he complained of not feeling well and he suffered a stroke, resulting in his death. He would have been 82 years of age next September.

Mr. Williams was born in North Wales, England, and came to this country when a young man of 26 years. He located in Wisconsin and engaged in farming. His first marriage was to Mary Jones on December 20, 1876 at Mankato, Minnesota. To this union was born two children, one of whom died in infancy. The other is Mrs. Mary Koch of Seattle, Washington

In 1871 Mr. Williams moved to Clay County, Iowa where he made his home until his death. His second marriage was to Miss Mary Savage in Comfrey, Minnesota on September 1, 1888. There were five children born to this marriage; Mrs. Charles Langermann of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Mrs. Edward Fields of Royal, Iowa, and Hugh Williams of Spencer, Iowa. Two died in infancy. He has two sisters surviving: Mrs. David Roberts of Linn Grove, Iowa and Mrs. Elizabeth Davis of North Wales, England.

Mr. Williams was one of the sturdy reliable farmers who did much in the early days to make Clay County a beautiful farming community that it is today. He was industrious, conceintious and a square dealing man. At the time of his death he owned 160 acres in Lincoln Township, Clay County, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at the Cobb Funeral Home in Spencer on August 9th conducted by Rev. Thomas, pastor of the Zion Church of Douglas Township. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery at Spencer, Iowa.

Riverside Cemetery records indicate the Williams have a plot of 8. Also buried there in space 1 is Charles Langermann, son-in-law, 1st husband of daughter Ester E. and in space 5 is Nellie Tapley, relationship unknown.
