Aged Lady Passed Away At The Home Of Her Daughter
Mrs. Rufina Wood, widow of the late Ira Wood of Friendsville, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. B. Goodart of North Market street this morning at 4:30 o'clock, after an illness of about two weeks.
The deceased was a daughter of Ira and Elinor Keen of this county and was born Nov. 23, 1824 her age at the time of her death being eighty-three years, three months, and nineteen days. She was married to Ira Wood Sept. 2, 1847, in this county and became the mother of nine children, five of whom are living, Abner, Clint, and Mrs. G. B. Goodart of this city, Ellen Wood and Wm. Keen of Wayne City; and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Rutter of this city and Mrs. Rebekah Wilkinson of Friendsville. Her hair S and died in 1857 (sic), and after having S death she made her home with her children in whose homes she was ever a most welcome guest. During the last five months she has lived with Mrs. Goodart at whos home her last sickness and death occurred.
During her whole life Mrs. Wood was a member of Barney Prairie Christian Church, living a conscientious Christian life and and proving herself a wife, mother and friend of truest worth. One week ago last Saturday she took a severe cold which her feebleness from extreme Ag could not withstand and th end came quietly this morning at day break.
This is the third death in this family in the last year. Mrs. Laura Schafer was buried several months ago and on the 26th of January Mrs. Alice Liddl of Friendsville died.
The funeral will be held at the Presbyterian church in Friendsville Friday morning. The party will leave the hous at eight o'clock and the service will begin as soon as the church is reached. Internment will be mad in the Friendsville cemetery.
