Leonard served in the U.S. Marine Corps for several years. Leonard was a Cement Mason out of Local 524 for 45 years; even after retiring, he continued to work. He loved being a Cement Mason. Preceding him in death was his father, Eulis Padgett; brother, Clinton Padgett; daughter, Thissure Finkley Myles; a special grandson, Jason Leonard Harris; and a special nephew, Micheal Padgett. He leaves to mourn: his beloved wife, Geraldine Gooden Padgett; his loving mother, Mattie Mason; 10 children, Leonard Jr., Johnnie, Jill, Jacquin, Glenn (Stephanie), Victor, LaTora (Andre?), Corrie (Derrick), James and Sean; 37 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gladys Padgett, Gloria Falland Crews (Mike), Mildred (Eugene) Johnson, Eloise (Mosel) McFarland, Luverta Wilson, all of Illinois and Shari (Donald) Benson of Barr, California; brother-in-law, Ethel Whitlock (Yourcine); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
