(1964 - 2014)

Ann Marie Shimek, age 50, of Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at her home. She gave the gift of life by donating her organs to help others.

Ann was born on February 1, 1964 in Manitowoc, daughter of Henry and Jeanne (Wallander) Shimek. She graduated from Reedsville High School, class of 1982. Ann furthered her education at Silver Lake College, graduating with a degree in early childhood education in 1986. She had various jobs working with children, most recently at a daycare. Ann loved to knit, read, scrapbook, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her father and mother: Hank and Jeanne Shimek of Reedsville; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: John and Linda Shimek of De Pere and Mark and Kay Shimek of Reedsville; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Mary Shimek of Green Bay and Susie and Dan Griepentrog of Cato; niece and nephews: Peter and Hannah Shimek and Nate and Shane Griepentrog; aunts and uncles: Sr. Margaret Ann Wallander, Jerome (Karen) Wallander, Jane Wallander, Louella Wallander, godmother: Dorothy (Wayne) Dirkmann, Eve (Richard) Englebrecht, Donna (Rich) Quinn, Mary Thompson, Alfred "Andy" (Clara) Shimek, Paul Braun, and Darlene Shimek; other relatives, and friends. Ann was preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen and Rev. Tim Shillcox. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 1:45 p.m.
