Bertha Coker McCullar, age 92, died Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS. Born on January 12, 1925 in Water Valley, she was the daughter of Earl Vester Rushing and Lucy McCain Rushing. Before her health declined, Bertha was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Water Valley. Always wanting to help others, she often placed their needs above her own. Bertha always put her beloved family first, and she enjoyed crocheting items for the elderly. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Services will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with the Rev. Harold Spraberry officiating. Burial will take place in Pinecrest Cemetery, Yalobusha County with Aaron Baddley, Steve Huff, Hunter Huff, Michael Cosby, Denny Clark, and Michael Gahagan serving as pallbearers.

Bertha is survived by one son, Bob Coker of Water Valley; a step-daughter, Sue Ray of Tennessee; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Coker of Southaven, MS and a step-daughter-in-law, Maudie McCullar of The Villages, Florida; two grandchildren, Christy (Steven) Huff and Sean Coker; and three great-grandchildren, Catherine Huff, Hunter Huff, and John Huff.

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by two husbands, Buck Coker and Roland McCullar; a son, John Coker; a step-son, Scotty McCullar; three sisters, Annette Goodwin, Joan Gray and Maxine Beard; and a brother, William Earl Rushing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The ALS Association, Tennessee Chapter,
P.O. Box 40244 - Nashville, TN 37204-0244.
