Steven Bornslater, 50, of Crossett died Friday, March 9, 2007, at his residence. A native of Fountain Hill and a resident of Crossett for the past four years, he was a former employee of Caraustar and a member of Bethel A. M. E. Church.

Survivors include one son, Marcus Bornslater and wife Sophia of Arlington, TX; a special long-time friend, Josanna Harris of Bastrop, LA; four step-children, Carolyn Harris, Alicia Robins and Farhan Harris, all of Bastrop, and Cedric Harris of Grand Prairie, TX; his aunt who raised him, Bessie Maude Simmons of Fountain Hill; two brothers, Reginald Bornslater of New Orleans, LA, and Donald Bornslater of Chicago, IL; one uncle, Troy David Simmons, Jr., of Augusta, GA; and 19 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Leslie Mae Simmons Bornslater; one step-daughter, Thelma L. Harris; one granddaughter, Sasha Bornslater; and his uncle who raised him, James "Buddy" Simmons.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg with Rev. Gregory Baker officiating. Burial was to follow at Norris Hill Cemetery in Fountain Hill. Pallbearers were to be Dewayne Davis, Jarvis Miller, Ray Charles Washington, Christopher Simpson, Edgar Cotton and Johnny Ray Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Donald and Reginald Bornslater, Terrian Keys, Charlie Howard, Troy David Simmons Jr., Larry Simmons and Adolphus McHenry.
