Irene R. Manikowski, 92, Wahpeton, North Dakota, died on Friday, November 3, 2017, at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton. Visitation and funeral mass at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Fairmount, North Dakota.
Irene was born April 12, 1925 in Nebraska, the daughter of Bill and Anna (Eichholz) Spellerberg. At an early age she moved to the Fairmount-Hankinson area. She attended rural school at DeVillo Township.
She married Maurice Manikowski in June of 1963. She worked for Clem's Café for several years. Maurice passed away May 7, 1976, and Irene returned to Fairmount, moving to the Leach Home in Wahpeton in 2003. She entered St. Catherine's Living Center in 2011.
Irene was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and a former member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Fairmount and Catholic Order of Foresters. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with nieces, nephews and family.
Irene is survived by her three sisters, Marianne Gatton, Eldora, Iowa, Bette Brand, West Fargo, North Dakota, and Dolores (Don) Rubertus, Wahpeton.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Anna and Bill; and two brothers, Jerome and Bill Spellerberg.
Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton is in charge of the arrangements.
