John Andis is the son of Matthias and Susannah Thomas Andis. He married Elizabeth Lewis 9 Sep 1819 in Washington Co., VA. They migrated to Rush Co., IN by 1830 and lived there through 1840. By 1850 they were in Johnson Co., IN for several years. In 1870 we find them in Burlingame, Osage Co., KS.
The inscription is very hard to read and it seems as if it states 1821. This cannot be and based on the rest of the inscription we believe the year is 1871.
