He was a Private in Captain Snyder's Company War of 1812 & organized the Andrew Jackson Rifleman. He later became a Captain & Colonel of the 45th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Militia. He was a contractor, railroad builder, dam & locks builder in civilian life. From 1829-1834 he was treasurer of Northumberland County & from 1851-1856 an associate judge.
