“Harley” Leroy Christopherson died on November 17, 2017. He was born on May 4, 1939 in Mariette, MN to Joe and Alice Christopherson. He graduated from Sisseton High School in 1958. He met his wife: Betty Christopherson on a double date. When Betty moved to the cities he followed her and they were married on July 1, 1958. In their 59 years of marriage: they bought a farm; raised 5 children: Donald; Kathryn; Ronald; John and Laurie; watched 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren grow. Harley was an exceptionally hard-working man and he instilled his work ethic in his children. He worked for 10 years for Butler Manufacturing; several years at the VFW and 30 years at the Peever Liquor Store. He also worked tirelessly at his farm; tending to his animals especially his beloved cattle. It was not uncommon to hear him conversing with his animals; the cattle and the cats especially. Even after moving to Peever, Harley would make the half hour drive to the farm twice a day to check on his cattle and his garden. Harley was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting and fishing and often took his children and grandchildren with him. He maintained his love for the outdoors until the end of his life. On his better days he still went out fishing with his children. In addition to outdoor activities Harley also loved bowling and watching or listening to the Minnesota Vikings or Twins games. Harley was known to be a tough man of few words. He was fiercely loyal to his family and did whatever it took to take care of them. Although he had a tough exterior Harley was also known to be a bit of a jokester who liked to laugh. Harley may have been sparse in conversing but he still managed to show people how much he loved them. He will be greatly missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Alice Christopherson; brother: Thorphn Christopherson and grandson: Matthew Ellingson.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Christopherson; siblings: Carole (Jack) Thuringer; Dorris (Verne) Wolfe; Marvin (Gwen) Christopherson and Gail Christopherson (sister-in-law); children: Donald Christopherson; Kathryn (Paul) Ellingson; Ronald (Shannon) Christopherson; John (Mary) Christopherson and Laurie (Ed) Degenhardt; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
