Herman Paul Bailey, 96, of Lillian, AL, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017.
H. Paul Bailey was born on September 12, 1921 in Lancaster, South Carolina, the eldest son of Ira & Gertrude Bailey. In 1942, he married his love, Elsie Threatt in SC. Paul served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and fought in the Battle of Okinawa. In 1955, he and Elsie moved to Pensacola where he became a successful custom home builder, his career spanning 36 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren at his paradise on Soldier Creek, sharing his passion for fishing. Paul is survived by his wife of 75 years, Elsie T. Bailey, and children - Ron Bailey (Peggy), Myra Walters (Lee), Paula Bounds, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sister Betty Baker of Lancaster, SC, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home on Monday, November 27 from 10:00-11:00 am, and the Service from 11:00-11:30 am. A private burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer you make a donation in Paul's honor to the Shriners Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project. Oak Lawn Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
