Virginia.
Born April 18, 1940 in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Ira T. Bailey,
Sr., and the late Gertrude Rollins Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a 1959 graduate of
Buford High School and a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. He worked
in the construction industry for many years with Myers & Chapman Construction.
Mr. Bailey was the former owner & operator of Bailey Woodworks, and Everall Road
Grocery, and was retired from Duracell. He was currently the owner & operator of
J & R Cycles. Mr. Bailey was a member of Camp Creek Lodge #317 of Ancient Free
Masons, and will be fondly remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother,
and friend to many. He was preceded in death by two brothers, W. T. Bailey and
Roy E. Bailey; and a sister, Beatrice Clark.
Survivors include his son, Phillip Bailey of Lancaster; daughter, Deborah Bailey
of Lancaster and Suzanne Bailey of Baltimore, MD; sister, Betty Baker and her
husband Donnie of Lancaster; brother, H. Paul Bailey and his wife Elsie of
Lillian, AL; grandchildren, Zachary Hegler and Aaliyah Johnson; and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the
Hopewell United Methodist Church with The Reverend Steve Patterson and The
Reverend David Inman officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 5, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m.
at Mahaffey-Wilson Funeral Service.
