Mrs. Eliza Thomas Preston, widow of John F. Preston, died yesterday at her home, 1700 North Calvert street. She had been ill 3 months. Mrs. Preston was the daughter of the late Captain and mrs. Charles Thomas and a niece of the late Philip Francis Thomas, former Governor of Maryland, who was Secretary of the Treasury in President Buchanan's Cabinet. She is survived by 3 sons and 4 daughters, Capt. Charles F. Preston, U.S.N.; Col. John F. Preston and D. Logan Preston, of Philadelphia; Mrs.Robert G. Sterrett, of Maplewood, N. J.; Mrs. Henry J. Carroll, of Ruxton; Mrs. William Handy, of Chattolanee, and Miss Ellen F. Preston, of Baltimore.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at Old St. Paul's Protestant Episcopal Church. Burial will be private in Baltimore Cemetery.
