Shirley J. (Orvis) Suettinger, age 91, lifetime Two Rivers resident, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Shirley was born in Two Rivers on September 6, 1926, daughter of the late Oscar and Florence (Haag) Sincoular. She was a graduate of Washington High School, then furthered her education at the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee. On September 6, 1950, she married Arthur H. Orvis in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death August 25, 1968. She later married Robert W. Suettinger in March of 1982, who also preceded her in death on May 8, 1988. Shirley was an exceptional seamstress who enjoyed sewing and quilting for her family & friends. She was a charter member of the Lakeshore Palettiers and the Ladies of the Lake Quilters Group. Shirley thoroughly enjoyed music throughout her life and held seasonal tickets to the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra Concerts for many years. She also had a wide variety of interests which included cross-country skiing, bowling, golfing, and taking walks on the beach.
She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Jay and Nancy Orvis of Two Rivers; two grandchildren: Ian Orvis (special friend, Amber) and Aja Orvis (special friend, David). She is further survived by Robert's children: Robin Suettinger of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Cheryl Ceriole of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Ellen Kivioja of Two Rivers; one sister, Ann Suettinger, Manitowoc; sister-in-law, Joyce Sincoular, DePere; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her two husbands, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Sincoular; and a sister & two brothers-in-law: Audrey (Don) Wilker, and John Suettinger.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St. Two Rivers from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 12:30 p.m. to close out the visitation, led by Lay Minister, Linda Hunter from the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Manitowoc. Shirley's cremated remains will be laid to rest in Pioneer Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers.
