Former Greenwood County resident, Doris Marie Evenson, died Tuesday, August 11, 1987 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita. She was 58.

Born in Climax on September 2, 1928. Mrs. Evenson was the daughter of Raymond and Grace Lovely Simmons. She married Oscar L. Evenson on December 21, 1947 in Emporia. They moved to El Dorado from Towanda 10 years ago.

Mrs. Evenson was a former teacher and director of Tiny Tot Day Care Center.

Survivors are Mrs. Evenson's husband, Oscar of the home; three sons, Logan L. and Ray D., both of August and Arne J. of Murdock; three daughters, Sharon M. (Mrs. E.C.) Dennis, Great Bend, Mary S. (Mrs. Daryl) Patton, Garnett, and Lois E. (Mrs. David ) Carson, El Dorado; her parents, Raymond and Grace Simmons, Fredonia; 10 grandchildren; and two brothers Donald W. Simmons and Dale A. Simmons, both of Wichita. She was preceded in death by a brother, James R. Simmons.

The funeral service was held the morning of Friday, August 14, 1987 at Carlson Colonial Chapel in El Dorado. Interment was in Ladd Cemetery northwest of Eureka.

A memorial has been established to the St. Joseph Medical Center Pediatric Department. Contributions can be left at the Carlson Funeral Home.
