Antoine was a Prussian immigrant who homesteaded in about 1842, in Alafia.

He was one out of 42 soldiers garrisoned at Fort Alafia in 1850. He served in the U.S. Army for the Seminole War. He also served in the Civil War.

In 1853, he established Alafia Post Office and became the postmaster.

By 1863, he became a county commissioner and owned about 1000 acres. The area between present day Hwy 39, State Road 60, Turkey Creek Road and Keysville Road. Much of this area has been mined.

He met and married Martha E. Moody Jackson, June 29, 1865. This was her 3rd marriage, she was the widow of Joseph Mizell Pearce and Evander Jackson-he was killed in the Civil War. Her children were: Fannie Pearce, William J Pearce, Joseph Cooper Pierce and James W. Jackson.

In 1882, 240 acres were sold in a Sheriff's Sale in Tampa to repay debt.

Antoine and Martha, had one son, Henry. Henry sold the rest of his father's land and moved to Plant City after his father's death.
