Everitt married Violet Enid Curtis on the 9th of April 1949. They made their home in Pequannock where they raised their three children: Pamela Enid, Patricia Ellen, and Thomas Everitt.
He served in the military during WWII from the 26th of June 1944 until the 2nd of February 1946. He was a Private First Class with the 137th Infantry, Company C serving as a rifleman in the European Theater of Operations. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.
Everitt was a volunteer fire fighter with Pequannock Fire Department Engine Company #2 for more than twenty years. He also served as the chief at times. He worked for over 30 years as a mason and was skilled in stone work.
