Carol Kolb, age 87, a resident of Harvest Home Assisted Living Center of Howards Grove, Wisconsin received God’s peace on December 10, 2017. She was surrounded by family when she entered eternal life. Carol is the beloved wife of the late Carl E. Kolb. Carol’s life is a testament to a deep love of family, loyalty to others, and a lifelong passion to express her love through her cooking. There was seldom a recipe Carol did not like. Carol was born September 19, 1930, to Reinhold and Ida (Voss) Roethel. She and Carl married on August 25, 1951, and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. They had a life filled with working together on their family Guernsey farm, operating a large apple orchard, raising five rambunctious sons and enjoying many get-togethers with family and friends with Carol always bringing her now famous German-style potato salad. While farming, Carol worked full time for 33 years at Lakeland Mutual Insurance Co. and fed her growing boys 3 square meals a day. Carol was a member of the Manitowoc Co. Homemakers for 64 years, Lakeshore Disaster Support Group, member of the Red Hat Society and a Meeme poll worker. She was Carl’s right hand when he served as Clerk of the Town of Meeme for many years. She was a long time member of the St. James United Church of Christ, member of Ladies Aid, Consistory member and President and member of the choir. Carol is survived by her sons Thomas Kolb (Karen Vernal), Wauwatosa, Terry (Mary) Kolb, New Holstein, Dan (Jean) Kolb, Kohler, Dr. David Kolb of Lodi, and Rob (Marcey) Kolb, Hoffman Estates, Illinois. In addition, Carol was an amazing Grandma to 11 grandchildren, Corrie (Kedrick) Strutz, Megan (Dave) Clark, Sarah (Jack) Kolb-Williams, Patrick Kolb and friend Morgan Jezierski, Derek and Megan Kolb, Mark and Aimee Kolb, Carrie (fiancé Steven Schifko), Jackie and Angie Kolb, and Dylan and Haley Kolb, and 4 step-grandchildren, Jonathan Waldbauer, Jenna Moorman, Trent Moorman, and Bryce Moorman. She also enjoyed spending time with her Great Grandchildren Maddie Dumproff and Cameron and Charlie Kolb. She was a special sister-in-law to Milly Kolb of Kaukauna and Annette Schaefer of Sheboygan and a special neighbor to Adam Kolb and Cindy and Jon Roeck. Carol is preceded in death by Carl, her parents, sister Elaine Hemb, brother-in-law Lowell Schaefer and daughter-in-law Rev. Susan Kolb. Carol was a woman of incredible strength, never-ending love, overflowing meals and deep friendship to those who had the privilege of calling her Mom, mother-in-love, grandma, great grandma, sister-in-law, neighbor, and friend. The family would like to thank the very competent staff at Sheboygan Aurora Medical Center and the loving environment the residents and staff of Harvest Home gave to Carol during her residence. A Celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at St. James United Church of Christ in Spring Valley (13312 Pioneer Rd., Newton) at 3:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A celebration luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Carol’s name.
