Dolly D. Jacobs, 81, of Shelbyville, passed Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at her residence. Born Feb. 15, 1936, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Robert Dixon and Fern(Rutherford) Dixon. She married Henry P. Jacobs and he preceded her on Dec. 7, 1988. Survivors include nine children; Henry Jacobs Jr., of Shelbyville; Mary Smothers, of Shelbyville; Cindy Wells, of Louisville, Kentucky; Kathy Jacobs, of Shelbyville; Jane Jacobs, of Shelbyville; Ruby Sinclair, of Shelbyville; Edmund Dolphus Dixon, of Bloomington; Irvin Eugene Dixon, of Oklahoma; and Sharon Reed, of Virginia; brother, Edmund Dixon, of New Mexico; sister, Blanche Gibson, of Florida; 19 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; brothers, Rosco Dixon and Thomas Dixon; sisters, Laverne Jacobs, Shirley Smith, Bea Graham and Pauline Jacobs; and granddaughter, Heather Smothers. Mrs. Jacobs had lived in this area her entire lifetime. She was a homemaker, and had been a factory worker at Admiral Corp. for seven years. She was a member of Salvation Army Church. Dolly enjoyed watching game shows, football and basketball on TV. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and working word search puzzles. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road. Funeral services will follow at noon Friday at the funeral home, with Capt. Alan Sladek officiating. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.
