J. Edgar Amyot, 83, passed away in peacefully on December 20th, in Mebane, NC, at the home of his son, Michael.
Edgar was born September 25, 1934 in Rossie, NY, son of J. George and Jeanne Faubert Amyot. He graduated from Hammond Central School. He married Ellen Mary Kennehan on June 6, 1964 in Brasher Falls, NY. Mrs. Amyot passed away September 15, 2017.
Edgar worked the family dairy farm in the town of Hammond with his father from 1955 till 1975 and then with his wife, until they sold in 1998. He also owned and operated Amyot’s Garage and served as Town of Hammond Highway Superintendent from 1992-2009.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Church and was a former director of the North Country Insurance Company.
He is survived by two sons and their wives; Michael & Ann, Mebane, NC and James and Marjorie, Balitmore, MD, grandsons; Nathan, Corey, Colin and Avery Amyot, three brothers; Rev. Andrew Amyot, Norfolk, NY, Mark and Martin Amyot, both of Albany, NY, and two sisters; Margaret Charlebois, Baldwinsville, NY and Mrs. Louis (Diane) Connel, Brownville, NY.
Memorial services and burial at Fineview Cemetery in Hammond, will be held at a time to be announced in the spring.
