Mrs. Myrtle Hall-Smith, of 313 Ackley Road, Greenville, SC, was granted her angel wings on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the McCall Hospice House peacefully surrounded by family and friends.

Born July 26, 1946 in Greenville, SC, a daughter of the late Oscar and Molly Cureton. She was adopted by the late Daisy and Clarence Hall. Myrtle was a very compassionate, loving, and caring woman. She was a devoted faithful servant of the Lord.

She began her spiritual journey early in life singing while she was in the sixth grade. She attended Sterling High School in Greenville, SC and graduated from the prestigious Julliard School of Music in New York City. Myrtle was very humbled that God gave her such a beautiful gift of song and embarked on her life's mission to serve the people with her voice. Myrtle pursued her career and became a world renowned soloist with the Billy Graham Crusade for 25 years. She sang to millions in countries all across the world using her rich soprano voice by performinng in religious crusades and concerts thrilling audiences with resounding standing ovations. Her honors and accolades include being a featured soloist at the World Baptist Alliance in Stockholm, Sweden, a private worship service for the inauguration of President Jimmy Carter, and the inauguration of South Governor Dick Riley. After retirement, Myrtle spent her time giving her phenomenal personal testimony of making the impossible possible, exceeding adversity, and her resilience to never give up on God. She continued to sing in various concerts using her renditions of gospel, church hymns, contemporary music, and Negro spirituals.

Myrtle was married to Russell Smith December 27, 1987. They were married for 30 years. Through this union she gained two step daughters, Shelita and Sheena, who she always loved and adored as her own. She is survived by her husband, Russell Smith of the home; two step-daughters, Shelita Smith and Sheena (Garry) Williams; three grandchildren, Madison, Gavin, and Justin; four brothers, Sammy (Pat) Roberts, Oscar (Sandra) Cureton, Thomas Cureton, and Tony Cureton; four sisters; Princess (Thomas) Way, Maude Shell, Ann (George) Howell, and Jean (James) Albert; two devoted long time childhood friends LaBarbara Sampson and Loulla Butler; her father-in-lat, Leroy Smith, Sr., one brother-in-law Leroy Smith Jr; six sister-in-laws, Geri (Craig) Mossy, Lavern (Dru) Reid, Monice Smith, Ja'neen Smith, Gwendolyn Smith, and Mona Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Springfield Baptist Church with Bishop Samuel Zimmerman and Dr. Jeffery Brown officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
