Chester Holley was born May 7, 1820 in Freetown, Cortland County, New York. The oldest child of Isaac E. and Rosanna (Tinker) Holley.

To this union 9 known children were born.

Little is known about his childhood. The family came to Michigan sometime in the 1840s.
Chester married Eunice Mary Jane Dunn on May 10 or 13, 1842 in Delhi Township. He was 22 and Mary Jane (the name that appears on most of her records) was 17. The record of the marriage has Chester’s surname spelled as Hawley.

They spent their lives in the Aurelius area.

Chester died February 12, 1869 and is buried near other Holley family members in the North Aurelius Cemetery in Aurelius Township, Ingham County, MI

Mary Jane married William Hyde shortly after Chester’s death. He was 12-16 years her senior. Censuses show them living in Delhi and Crawford Counties, MI.

Mary Jane at some time returned to Ingham County before her death. She died in Aurelius Township 7-24-1899. She is buried beside Chester in North Aurelius Cemetery.
