OBITUARY TRANSCRIPT: BERRINGER, George Elton - 1923 - 2017; Surrounded by the love of his family, George passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, April 17, 2017. Dearly loved husband of Gert for 43 years. Loving father of Brenda Seager (Jim), Eva Berringer (Gord Swan 2007) and Kelly Weyler (Dale). Treasured grandfather of Matthew (Kim). Best friend and brother of Beryl. Fondly remembered uncle of his many nieces and nephews. Step-grandfather of Katy and Michael Swan. He was a special friend and neighbour to many. George was predeceased by his first wife Jeanne (nee Pybus 1969), his parents Aden and Ollie, brother Edward and sister Ruth. George began his life on a farm in South Brookfield, Nova Scotia. He joined the RCAF and served overseas during WWII. He came to London in 1948 and worked at Loblaws until his retirement. George was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Riverview and an active member of Byron United Church for many years. George was an avid gardener. His dahlias were his special pride and joy. He was a golfer, a bridge player, and always a great story-teller. At the age of 83, he started to write poetry. He leaves behind a wealth of words, wisdom and humour. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, london. A memorial service will be conducted at Byron United Church, 420 Boler Road, London, on Friday, April 21st, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of George are asked to consider the Byron United Church memorial Fund or the charity of your choice.
