OBIT FOR AUGUST KLETT, AUGUST 26, 1916:

August Klett, the oldest son of Sofia and Casper Klett, was born in
Washington County in 1842, and died at his home in Clear Creek
Township, Keokuk County, August 26, 1916. His age was 74 years, 2
months and 17 days.

In 1843, he moved with his parents to Keokuk County, where he has
lived the balance of his life. On March 28, 1869, he was united in
marriage to Julia Ramsey [Ramge], who preceded him in death on the 23rd day of
October, 1908. To this union were born 8 children, all of whom
survive except two who died in infancy and his oldest daughter Emma
who died at the age of 31 years. The children who are living and were
present at the funeral are: Anna Sofia, who resides at home, Katie
Smith [Schmitt], Keota, Elizabeth Mary Redlinger of Keota, and George Edward and
Conrad Frederich who resides in the home community. He also leaves to
mourn his departure 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. There
are also living six brothers and sisters of his father's family, two
sisters Mrs. Louisa Biewen of Harper, Mrs. Cetta Starr of Scott
County, Kansas, Fred Klett of Dickinson County, Gotlieb, Charles and
William, all of this county. They were all in attendance at the
funeral with the exception of Fred Klett. The funeral was held at
Bethel Church Monday, August 28, services conducted by Reverend
Lanning, assisted by Brother J. H. Hoffman.

The family desires to express their thanks to their friends and
neighbors for their kindness during the sickness and death of their
father.
