Helen F. Searcy, 89, of Independence, MO passed away February 9, 2018. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 am Friday, February 16, 2018 at the chapel. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Helen was born on September 25, 1928 in Independence, MO. She was 1 of 13 born to Henry and Virgie (Nichols) Paris. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School Class of 1947. In 1947 she married the love of her life, Clifford Searcy. They had spent over 64 years together when he passed away in 2011. In 1990 she retired from the Independence School District as the head cook for William Chrisman. Cooking was a passion in her home as well. All family gatherings were at her home with her doing the cooking, and she loved to share with friends as well. Helen also enjoyed canning, sewing, and her flower gardens. She was always up for a game of cards or a run to the casino! Helen was truly loved and will be forever missed by her family and friends. Survivors include; son Namon Searcy and his wife Connie; daughter Debbie Lafferty and her husband Jerold; grandchildren Chad Searcy, Jeremy Searcy, Kerri Rees, Julie McKiernan, Crystal Lafferty, and Nichol Allen; 12 great grandchildren; sisters Genny Warren and Carmalita Easterla; brother Johnny Paris; a large extended family and many friends. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford Searcy, son Cliff Searcy Jr., and 9 siblings.
