Theda Louise Potts, 83, Freeman, died July 25, 2002, at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.
She was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Independence, the daughter of Henry Clifford and Virgie Marie (Nickles) Paris.

On Nov. 19, 1938, she married Walter Riley Potts in Blue Springs.

Mrs. Potts had lived in Freeman since 1950. she was a homemaker and a member of the Freeman Christian Church and the VFW Auxiliary Post 4409, Harrisonville.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Riley Potts, on Feb. 13, 1999; two brothers, Clifford Rae Paris and Melvin Lee Paris; and two sisters, Darlene Marie Tignor and Laura Bell Mason.

Surviving are three sons, Ernest Potts, Freeman, Walter Potts, Harrisonville, and Bill Potts, Waukita, Cleveland; three daughters, Mary Grosshart, Pleasanton, Kan., Doris Rogers, Warrensburg, and Georgia Grusing, Kona, Hawaii; three brothers, Namon Paris, Appleton City, Henry Paris, Colorado Springs, Colo, and Johnnie Paris, Independence; four sisters, Helen Searcy, Independence, Audra Edmondson, Independence, Virginia Warren, Anderson, and Carmeleta Easterla, Green wood; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Herb Tate, Terry Smith, Mike Fisher, Kenny Smith and Tom Dossett.

Pallbearers were Eric Hatfield, Russell Hatfield, Curtis Turner, Clint Turner, David Rogers and Wade Potts.

Services were July 27 at the Atkinson Chapel with the Rev. Henry Green officiating.

Burial was in the Freeman Cemetery under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
