Nelson Bowers, age 90, of Louisville passed away to be with the Lord peacefully at home on February 25, 2018. He was surrounded by family. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, and a member of the 25 year club of ALCOA Aluminum Company. Nelson was a member of the Tellico Lodge #80 for 50+ years. He was also active in the US Navy during World War II.

Preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; three sisters; and the mother of his children, Ruth Hicks Bowers.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 18 years; Billie Smith Bowers; son, Doyel Bowers; daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Harmon; grandchildren, Chris (Robin) Bowers, Amy Bowers McKenzie, Melissa (Jody) Johnson, and Angela Bowers; great-grandchildren, Samual and Ellie McKenzie, Olivia and Nolan Bowers, and Savanna Johnson; special little buddy, Chase Dunlap; special niece, nephew, Dean (Grady) Houk, and Jimmy and Carlotta Millsaps; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins; and extended family, Mike (Jill) Smith, Blake, Wesley, and Spencer Smith.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Miller Funeral Home, Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Bill Dixon officiating. The interment service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
