Odessa - Gladys (Flournoy) Reynolds (106) was called home to Heaven on Sunday, April 1, 2007, at Avalon Place Nursing Home.

Born September 19, 1900, in Alba, Wood County, Texas. She was the oldest of 11 children born to Walter B. and Tishie Ray. All except for her sister Lavelle Hamilton have preceded her in death. She married Gilford Flournoy in Wood County, Texas on July 27, 1919. Together they shared many happy years. They felt especially blessed when God granted them a son, Glen E. Flournoy. While living in Vancouver, WA, the Lord called Gilford home on March 28, 1943. Gladys and son returned to Odessa, where Gladys went to work for the Midland Air Force Base. In later years she worked for the First National Bank and bought rental property.

Gladys met Archie Reynolds in Odessa and they married on August 4, 1956, in the home of her son Glen and wife Jean. Gladys and Archie remained married until Archie was called home on March 24, 1974.

Gladys always enjoyed her family whether it was having Thanksgiving dinners at her house or taking her grandchildren exploring. Embroidery, crocheting, and quilting were her hobbies. She made many beautiful things with her skills. She liked canning and made some of the best home made chow chow anyone ever tasted. In later years Gladys resided at Avalon Place Nursing Home where she enjoyed and was very good at playing dominoes and 42 with her friends.

Gladys had a strong body and soul, driving until she was 96 and walking up until just a few weeks of her passing. But even stronger was her love for God. She loved to study her Bible and listen to Billy Graham. Gladys was always ready to go home when the Lord felt it was time for her to come.

She is survived by her son, Glen Flournoy and wife Jean of Odessa; stepson, Tom Reynolds and wife Shirley of Athens, TX; sister, Lavelle Hamilton of Houston; grandchildren, Mary Ayers of Odessa, Lisa Flournoy of Austin and Glen R. Flournoy of Odessa; step-grandchildren, Celina Clark of Houston, Teresa Abel of Houston; several nieces and nephews; and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2007, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Terry County Cemetery in Brownfield.

Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
