Furman Olmsted Baldwin was one of the original leading photographers of the American Colony Jerusalem Photography Department. His work included National Geographic photo spreads as he traveled the world documenting what he saw at the turn of the 20th century. Born in America, he relocated with his family as a child to medical mission they operated in Morocco. From there, the family went to Syria, Lebanon, and Jerusalem. Entering the Colony as a teen, he married a fellow Colony youth, Evangeline "Eva" Henwood, and was father to two children before leaving the Colony and returning to America. There he operated a successful photography studio the rest of his life. When Eva died after their third child, Furman married another Colony youth, Fareedy Naseef. Together they had three more children. All six children went on to have their own families.
