Sarah was the sixth of ten known children of Johann Philip (went by Philip) Fishel (1782-1850) and Rachel Elizabeth Miller Fishel (1783-1855), who married 03 Aug 1802 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.
Sarah married David Hanes (1810-1874) on 10 Nov 1829 at Davidson County, North Carolina. David was the son of Philip Hanes (1778-1827) and Susannah Frey Hanes (1784-1845).
Sarah and David were the parents of eight known children, and possibly at least four more, namely:
1. Jonathan Hanes (1833-1900)
2. Charlotte Hanes Hege (1835-a1900)
3. Christian Hanes (1836-1862)
4. Susannah Hanes Leonard (1839-???)
5. Nancy Elizabeth Hanes Crotts (1847-1916)
6. Franklin Hanes (1850-a1888)
7. Williard Hanes (1851-1928)
8. Lenora Hanes Weaver (1853-1928)
and probably:
9. Thomas Hanes (1838-1843)
10. David Hanes (1841-1842)
11. Sarah Hanes (1843-1847)
12. Catarley Hanes (1845-1848)
The last four children, all of whom died young, are buried in the immediate vicinity of Sarah at the Good Hope Unnited Methodist Church Cemetery, and are assumed to be children of Sarah and David.
After Sarah died, David remarried to Nancy A. "Nannie" Ripple (1834-1911, buried at Friedberg Moravian Graveyard) on 22 Nov 1864 at Davidson County, North Carolina and had at least two more additional children. In 1870 David, Nancy, Williard, Lenora, and two children by Nancy, Mary (age 5) and Martha (Mattie) (age 3) were living at Yadkin Township, Davidson County, North Carolina. On 02 Nov 1876 the widow Nancy A. Hanes married to James M. Baxley at Davidson County, North Carolina. Nannie is buried as Nannie A. Hanes.
