Daniel Fishel was the third of ten known children of Johann Philip (went by Philip) Fishel (1782-1850) and Rachel Elizabeth Miller Fishel (1783-1855), who married 03 Aug 1802 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

Daniel first married to Catherine Eliza Mock (1820-1859) on 22 Nov 1837 at Davidson County, North Carolina Daniel and Catherine were the parents of seven known children, namely:

1. Simon Sandford Fishel (1838-1844)
2. Sarah Louise Fishel (1840-1844)
3. Charles Fishel (1843-1864)
4. James Madison Fishel (1845-1928)
5. Harriet L. Fishel Weisner (1848-1900)
6. Amanda Sophia Fishel (1852-1924)
7. Jonas Wesley (Sylvester?) Fishel (1857-1928)

Did Charles die while serving with the Confederacy during the Civil War?

After Catherine died, Daniel remarried to Nancy Gorden (1820-1891) on 07 Aug 1859 at Forsyth County, North Carolina. Was Gorden Nancy's maiden name or was she a widow? Daniel and Nancy had no known children.
