Dorothy Elizabeth (Klooz) Hansen departed this world March 17, 2018 at Cozad Community Hospital. She was born April 24, 1921 the daughter of the late Harvey and Elizabeth (Rice) Klooz.

She grew up in rural Frontier County and graduated from Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis, Nebraska in 1939. She had normal training and taught school in Frontier County after graduation.

On May, 17, 1944 she married Elwin Hansen at Oberlin, KS. They spent their married lives farming in Red Willow and Frontier County.

Dorothy was very active in the Garden Prairie Church. She enjoyed UMW, reading and crocheted many sweaters for World Vision to be sent to underprivileged children.

Her green house had an abundance of beautiful flowers. She grew them with love and there beauty was enjoyed by many.

Reading was one of Dorothy's most enjoyed pass times. She read five chapters in her Bible every morning and her novels kept her company for the last several years.

She is survived by her children Norma Lashley of Curtis, Phyllis (Bill) Hamaker of Kearney, Betty (Charlie) DeHarty of Eustis and Tom (Addie) Hansen of McCook; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; brother, Marvin (Ruth Ann) Klooz of McCook; sister, Eva Reichelderfer of Omaha; sister-in-law Adelaide Walther of Hay Springs and a host of relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by husband, Elwin Hansen, her parents Harvey and Elizabeth Klooz, brother, Clark Klooz, sister, Evelyn Arnold, son-in-law, Bud Lashley, grandchildren, Michael Lashley, Todd Lashley and Susann DeHarty, sister-in-law Margie Hanlon, brothers-in-law Dorrance Arnold, Bruce Walther, Jack Hanlon and John Reichelderfer.


Services will be held at 3:30 pm, March 21, 2018 at Garden Prairie Church with Pastor Tunde Oladimeji officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden Prairie Cemetery, Maywood, NE.
