Richard retired from the former Bell Telephone Co., where he was employed for 37 years. He was a 1949 graduate of Tamaqua High School. He served with the National Guard and in the Korean War with the Navy. Richard was an avid Phillies fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.
Memberships: He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he had been an usher and served on church council and various committees. He was a member of Easton Lodge 152, F & AM; Easton Forest 35, Tall Cedars of Lebanon where he was a ranger; Rajah Temple, Reading; Lehigh Consistory, Allentown; and Forks of the Delaware Shrine Club. He was also a member of Avona Volunteer Fire Company and Montour Hunting Club.
Survivors: In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by four sons, Richard E. Jr. and his wife, Jean of Southampton, NJ, Douglas R. and his wife, Beth of Crockett, VA, Adam L. and his wife, Damaris of Bethlehem, and Charles Chuck and his wife, Suzanne of Nazareth; a brother, Adam and his wife, Beverly of Northampton; a sister, Barbara Starry and a sister-in-law, Freida Oberman both of Tamaqua; twelve grandchildren, Stephan, Gentry, Daniel, Bradlee, Niah, Aaron, Hannah, Juliana, Karis, Rachel, Joel and Joylynn; and two great-grandchildren, Maezie and Maximillan. He was predeceased by a brother, Alvin; and sister, Dorothy Barrett; and a granddaughter, Aria.
