The former Dolores C. Zipperer was born on March 1, 1931, in the town of Carlton, Kewaunee County, daughter of the late Albert and Elsie (Hastreiter) Zipperer. Dolores attended Holy Rosary Catholic School in Kewaunee and graduated with the class of 1948 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On October 21, 1950, she married Melvin J. Shimon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alverno. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2016. Dolores worked at the Register of Deeds Office of Manitowoc County until her marriage to Melvin. She was a long-time member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw, St. Michaels's Christian Mothers and Whitelaw Senior Citizens. Dolores was also affiliated with the Association for the Development Disabled (ADD), life member of Kubale-O'Connell VFW Women's Auxiliary Post #6179 of Kellnersville and the Extension Homemakers. She enjoyed polka music, square dancing and loved playing sheepshead. Family was important to Dolores, she always took the time to enjoy and prepare delicious meals for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by eleven children and their spouses: Michael Shimon; Margie (Joe) Puta; Barbara (Terry) Rush; Mary Ann (Mark) Knier; Paul Shimon; Steven (Sandy) Shimon; Patrick (Jean) Shimon; Bernadine Shimon; Beverly (Rick) Evenson; Carolyn (Chad) Christel; Peter (Wen) Shimon; 33 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Olive Fischer; Irene Shimon; Dorothy Schmoock, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years: Melvin Shimon; her parents; one daughter: Susan Shimon; one daughter-in-law: Karen Shimon; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Eleanor (Dale) Schmoock; Margaret (Orville) Keup; Lorraine (Elmer) Kinstetter; four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: John Shimon; Evelyn Shimon; Cecilia Shimon; Joseph (Martha) Shimon; Adolph Shimon; Bernard (Grace) Shimon; Jim Fischer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 110 West Menasha Avenue, Whitelaw. The Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
