William A. "Dink" Cook, 81, of Seymour, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Schneck Medical Center.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. A military graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Born June 13, 1936, William was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Helen Richardson Cook. He served in the U. S. Army from 1954-1956. He owned and operated his own trucking company, W. A. Cook & Sons Trucking. He later worked at Enkei of America.

He enjoyed fishing, blues music, riding motorcycles and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of ABATE.

William is survived by two daughters, Tonya Shafer (Lawrence Clark) of Manteca, CA and Cindy (Andre Barnett) Cook of New Albany; one son, Mike (Shaela) Cook of Seymour; five grandchildren, Davon and Ronald Schafer, Brittany and Keenan Noel, and Inetta Robinson; eight great grandchildren, Kavion, Kalil and Kwale Schafer, Ronald Schafer, Jr., Jude Noel, Kaneesha Criswell, Burnard Murray and Michaela Garrett; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a son, William A. “Dink” Davis; four brothers, Clem, Benjamin, Paul “Bun”, and Herschel Cook; and five sisters, Sarah Anderson, Frances Crowder, Genevieve York, Katherine Truman and Betty Brooks.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the family to assist with expenses.
