Fitzpatrick, Nancy Jane (Ragsdale) Brown 26 Jul 1848 - 10 Nov 1930 Christian County Republican 27 Nov 1930 p2
[Note: Daughter of John Wesley & Phoebe (Pennington) Ragsdale; married Mar 1869 Elisha Perry Brown ? - 16 Jan 1878; married 14 Nov 1878 F. Michael Fitzpatrick 11 Sep 1856 - 24 Dec 1945]
Nancy Jane Ragsdale was born July 26, 1848, and died Nov. 10, 1930, aged 82 years, 5 months and 14 days. She was converted at the age of 16 years and united with the Free Will Baptist church. She was married in March 1868 to Elisha P. Brown. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Eliza A. Lassley, Rogersville, Pheeba A. Pate of Climax Springs, Mo.; James A. Brown of Springfield, and John W. Brown, who died July 30, 1875. Her husband also preceded her in death, passing away Jan. 16, 1878. She was married again Nov. 14, 1878. To this union were born two children: Mrs. Nancy E. Carr of Bruner and S.S. Fitzpatrick of Rogersville. She leaves five children, 27 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, two sisters and two half brothers, Mrs. Pheeba Beeler of Kissee Mills; Elizabeth Kirby of Mill Creek, Okla.; Sidney Ragsdale, Forsyth; and John C. Ragsdale of Protem; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Mrs. Myrtle Ferguson of Ash Grove at LaRose schoolhouse. A large crowd attended. She will be missed by all. Our mother has gone and left us With tears and a broken heart. We followed her to the open grave; Oh, it was so hard to part. Our hearts are sad and lonely; The old home is quiet and still; Our dear one will come back no never, But we bow to the Master’s will. The sound of her voice and footstep We will hear in this world no more But we are hoping some day to meet her Where parting and tears are no more.

Funeral services for Mrs. F.M. Fitzpatrick, who died at her home northeast of Burner Nov. 10, 1930, at 8:40 p.m. aged 82 years, 3 months and 14 days, were held at LaRose at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, with Mrs. Myrtle Ferguson officiating. A lovely and most beautiful funeral sermon was preached. Many words of comfort were given to the bereaved husband and children. This beloved sister was Nancy Jane Ragsdale before her marriage to Perry Brown. To this union were born four children, Hannah, Eliza, Jim and John, who died when young. After the death of her first husband, she was married to Michael Fitzpatrick. To this union were born two children, Sidney and Elizabeth. The children were all present when Mother passed away except Hannah, who could not come. Aunt Jane, as she was known among her many friends, was a God-fearing and true Christian woman and was love by all who knew her. She was a mother to all in time of need. She was ready and waiting for the Master’s call to enter into eternity in peace and happiness. She leaves to mourn her departure, besides the husband and children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Phoebe Beeler of Kissee Mill, Mo., Babe Kirby of Oklahoma; two brothers, Sidney Ragsdale of Forsyth, and Clark Ragsdale; and a host of relatives and friends. A large crowd was present for the funeral services, with many beautiful flowers. Aunt Jane’s request before she died was that Sister Ferguson preach her funeral at LaRose, where she had attended so many good church services. This was granted, together with other requests. Aunt Jane was laid to rest in Ragsdale cemetery near her childhood home. The pallbearers were her very close friends Mrs. Myrtle Ferguson, Mrs. Anna Ferril, Mrs. Sarah Brazeal, Mrs. Sylvia Budd, Mrs. Stella Vaughan and Mrs. Nellie McHaffie.
