She was born June 20, 1926 in the small mining town of Scofield, Utah to Alfred A. and Mary S. (Wright) Anderson. A coal miner's daughter, she was one of nine children. She spent her early years in Scofield where she met the love of her life Arthur Macon Thomason. They were married on April 1, 1944, in Price Utah, quickly followed by his entry into the military where he served during WWII. She followed him throughout his railroad career to Watertown TN, Alamosa CO, Ogden UT and finally landing in La Grande, OR for the last 45 years.
She was a talented lady of many interests. She completed her GED the same year her son graduated from high school, doing their homework together. She worked as a school lunch cook, a nurse's aide at Grande Ronde Hospital and as a volunteer at the hospital after she retired. She spent many happy years traveling with her husband in their RV around the southwest, spending winters in Yuma, AZ. They were members of the Happy Ramblers RV Club where they enjoyed many great friends. She was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She loved spending time with her family and is survived by her children, Mary and Martin Peterson, Art Jr. and Becky Thomason, Debra and Jeff Nichols; brother, Alfred and his wife, Mildred Anderson; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and expecting her first great-great grandchild in November.
