Thomas Cordell Hudson, age 88, of Clovis, N.M., died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at home in Clovis. He was born Dec. 18, 1918, to L.O. and Clara Bostick Hudson, in Forrest, N.M. He was a graduate of Forrest High School and NMSU. Tom married Doris Thompkins, on April 18, 1941, in Hollene, N.M. He worked as a Teacher and Life Insurance Agent and he pursued his job as a life insurance agent until he was in his late 70's. This vocation was more than a job as he truly felt he was helping people and he was happiest when he was doing for others. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and he loved his work and square dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Hudson, of the home; daughter, Jatonne (Buddy) Pierce, of Albuquerque, N.M.; son, Larry (Carolyn) Hudson, of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Tisha (Steven) Aldredge, of Albuquerque, N.M., Brent (Brandace) Hudson, of Albuquerque, N.M. and Scott (Belynn) Pierce, of Portales, N.M.; and four great-grandchildren, Damian Pierce, Jaxon Aldredge, Sarah Werbner and Cole Hudson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Henry Hudson and Paul Hudson.
Tom was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was his life and he especially loved being a grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to tease people and play practical jokes. His smile and twinkling eyes will always be remembered by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 14, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 15, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Closed casket services will be held at First United Methodist Church on Monday, April 16, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ran Loy officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1501 Sycamore, Clovis, NM 88101 or charity of your choice.
Pallbearers will be Richard Weison, Bill Daley, Bill Chapman, Jerry Ray Clark, Mike Hudson and Wendell Osborn. Honorary pallbearers will by Dr. Jon Shrader, Dr. Scott Washburn, all of our many square dance friends and all of Tom's wonderful healthcare givers.
