She received her education in the Richland County Public School system, attending C. A. Johnson High School. She retired from the State of South Carolina where she was employed as a CNA at the Midlands Center. She was an avid gardener and loved to fish and do word search puzzles. The creative side of her loved to crochet and make jewelry. Bobbie gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Norway, South Carolina. She later joined St. Matthews First Baptist Church in Winnsboro, SC where she served faithfully on the Missionary Board and the Jubilee Choir until her health began to fail. Bobbie was united in holy matrimony to the late Eddie “Button” Evans, Sr. on September 26, 1978. One son was the reared in the home, Clifton Frazier Evans. Bobbie was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. After losing her husband while Clifton was still young, Bobbie raised him as a single parent and gave him all her energy and focus. She loved children and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Left to forever cherish her loving memory are her son: Clifton (April) Evans; grandchildren: Chaniya, Christa and Chandler; brothers: Earl (Doretha) Evans of Blythewood, SC, Kenneth (Laverne) Evans of Columbia, SC and Willie (Renee) Evans of Blythewood, SC; sisters: Nadine Jamison of Columbia, SC and Francis (Carl) Hart of Winnsboro, SC; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Evans of Columbia, SC, Eva Evans of Charlotte, NC and Lillie Jamison of Philadelphia, PA; one aunt: Olive Huggins of Norway, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Bostick Tompkins Funeral Home, 2930 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC 29203. Funeral Service was held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 1 PM at St. Matthews First Baptist Church, 3853 Estes Lane, Winnboro, SC 29180. Interment following funeral service followed at St. Matthews First Baptist Church Cemetery immediately after the service.
