Alethea was the daughter of Nathaniel and Hannah Walden Smith. She married Salmon Kingsley in Scotland, Windham Co, CT on 20 August 1777. Salmon and Alethea had seven children: Horace Harris, William, Joseph, Chester, Alethea, Jane and Salmon.

The inscription at the bottom of her grave stone reads:

Why lovely friend indulge that tear
Why trembling view my dark abode
Tho you with me must moulder here
Yet faith can wing the soul to God

Records for the Bird Mountain Cemetery are found in the Poultney Cemetery book authored by Margaret Jenks.

Alathea's stone is lying on the ground, face up. It is quite clear and still very easily read.
