Mrs. Viola B. Chestnut, 73, R. 8, died at 2:35 p.m. Sunday at the Bloomington Hospital. She was a retired school teacher.
Mrs. Chestnut was the widow of Thomas W. Chestnut, who died March 13, 1961. She was a member of the Baptist Church. A native of Monroe County, Mrs. Chestnut was born June 30, 1889.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Alice Volle, R. 8; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Morrison, Knightridge, and Mrs. Bertha Hancock, 408 S. Grant, and a brother, Oscar Payne, Woodlawn Rd.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Greene and Harrell Chapel with the Rev. W. C. Chafin officiating. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
Donations in memory of Mrs. Chestnut may be sent to Bloomington Hospital or to the cancer fund.
Pallbearers will be William Nicely, Arnold Butcher, Shirley Wankier, Samuel R. Hunsucker, Leon Marris, and Billy Sturgeon.
