Darrell was born on November 24, 1928 in Preble, Wisconsin, son of the late Russell and Doretta (Martin) Farr Sr. He served in the United States Army Airborne. On March 1, 1952 he married the former Carole Mae Herion. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1996. Darrell was an iron worker and member of Local Union #8, the AmVets Post #99 and Eagles Aerie #706.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Terry (Debbie) Farr, Two Rivers; Rick (Connie) Farr, Manitowoc; Ron (Vicky) Farr, Slinger; one daughter and son-in-law: Linda (Bill) LeCaptain, Manitowoc; nine grandchildren: Jamie (Amanda) Farr, Plymouth; Jason (Stephanie) Farr, Two Rivers; Douglas Farr, Clintonville; Stephanie (Dan) Fritch, Weyauwega; Rachel Farr, Minneapolis; Sean Farr, Hartford; Amanda LeCaptain and her fiancé: James, Manitowoc; Jennifer LeCaptain, Manitowoc; Michael LeCaptain, Manitowoc; ten great-grandchildren: Nicholas; Tyller; Gavin; Ben; Jacob; Gabrielle; Bryce; Bryant; Genavie; Bella; three brothers and one sister-in-law: Jim (Joan) Farr; Bill Farr; Randy Farr; five sisters and four brothers-in-law: Carol Behnke; Marion (Upton “Hans”) Wiegert; Darlene (Bill) Moede; Julie (Jim) Kreil; Margaret (Helmer “Jr.”) Franzen; one step-brother: Bob Carriveau; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jack (Kay) Herion; Dale (Mary) Herion, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Carole Farr; five brothers and one sister-in-law: Donald (Nancy) Farr; Orville Farr; Myron “Mike” Farr; Glynn Farr; Russell “Toby” Farr; one sister: Joyce Farr; one step-brother: Kenneth Carriveau; one step-sister: Bette Butler.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1122 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Dr. Matthew L. Sauer will officiate with entombment of his cremated remains to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens with Military Honors accorded by the AmVets Post #99.
