HEREFORD - Pauline Abney, 96, died Sunday, April 15, 2007.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church in Texline with the Rev. Billy Rammage and the Rev. John Wade officiating. Burial will be in Texline Cemetery by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford.

Mrs. Abney was born Sept. 26, 1910, in Duke, Okla., the daughter of Fred and Allie Beatty. She married Temple Abney on May 27, 1934, in Clayton, N.M. Mrs. Abney attended the University of Arkansas and graduated from West Texas State University with a master's degree in education. She taught school in Texline for more than 19 years.

Mrs. Abney was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women's Association, a longtime member of Texline First United Methodist Church and a member of Hereford First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Temple; a brother, Ulmer Beatty; two sons-in-law, Charles Detten and Mike Niemeier; and a special cousin, Margaret Swagerty.

Survivors include two sons, Temple Abney II and wife Karen of Hereford and James Talmage Abney and wife Paula of Fort Worth; two daughters, Margaret Detten of Amarillo and Alicia Niemeier of Fredericksburg; a sister-in-law, Eloise Beatty of Clayton; eight grandchildren, Cheryl and Biz Houston of Seminole, Patti and Mike Chumley of College Station, Kirsten Abney and Temple and Amanda Abney, all of Dallas, Cassie Abney of Amarillo, Sam Abney of Austin, Mecca and Mark Fox of Calhoun, Ga., Jessie and Adam North of Denton, N.C.; and five great-grandchildren, Clay, Ty, Stephanie, Noah and Bowan.

The family suggests memorials be to King's Manor Methodist Retirement Home, 400 Ranger, Hereford, TX 79045.
