Vernon Mounce, age 72, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at his residence.
Vernon was born on June 2, 1945 in Somerset, KY to the late Delbert Mounce and Lorie Baker Mounce. He was a self-employed logger. Vernon enjoyed fishing, flowers and working on lawn mowers.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Taylor Mounce, whom he married on July 25, 1966 in Jellico, TN; nine children, Randy (and Lillie) Mounce, Michelle Mounce, Paul Mounce, Shawnda (and Mike) Baker, James Mounce, Dreama (and Mitchell) Blankenship, Justin Mounce, Becky (and Justin) Anderson and Jessie Mounce all of Somerset; his grandchildren, Kellie Mounce, Ariel Mounce, Justin Smith, Kayla Mounce, Evan Mounce, Hannah Mounce, Amber Mounce, Michael Franklin II, Faith Franklin, Cassidy Brown, Tyler Mounce, Katie Mounce, Elizabeth Blankenship, Jason Blankenship, Cody Blankenship, Dakota Blankenship, William Blankenship, McKinley Anderson, Ava Anderson, Ahylia Mounce and Jessie Mounce; his great-grandchildren, Ivy Brown, Oliver Brown, Liam Muse, Ryker Meece and Maelynn Blakenship; one sister, Margie Murphy of Somerset; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, JC Wells, Ivan Mounce, Jerry Mounce, Norman Mounce and Hershel Mounce; and three sisters, Ruby Garrett, Evander Wells and Juanita Bowlin.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm for friends at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Sears officiating. Burial will be at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
