According to William Eardeley's record of cemetery inscriptions that were still visible in 1923, Jacob died either Feb 22 1878 or 1879 at age 81 years 11 m 18 d
A Bible owned by Jacob's son Richard (1827-1917) records that Jacob was born Mar 4 1798, which proves that 1879 was the correct reading on the gravestone
