He was the perpetrator in the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University campus shootings of April 16, 2007, in which 32 students and faculty members were murdered, using two semi-automatic pistols. Seventeen others were injured. Born with a South Korean heritage, he was a senior undergraduate student at Virginia Tech.
